Yoga sees food as medicine, and notes that different people need different foods based on their individual needs. Deepen your yoga experience by feeding yourself in new ways. Ayurveda is the food- and spice-based traditional medicine of India, often called the “sister science” of yoga. It is more than 5,000 years old, and, like yoga, is rooted in the Vedas.
Come to an Ayurveda workshop or meet with our Ayurveda practitioner to create an off-the-mat practice that supports your specific body needs, life goals, and present state of being. You can address mental health as well as physical issues. Perinatal care can also be enhanced with Ayurveda. Experience your body and health in new ways by learning what foods will serve as medicine for your specific body!
Meet Our Ayurveda Practitioner, Katherine
Katherine Saviskas is an Oakland-based Ayurveda practitioner. She came to Ayurveda 10 years ago, to support her own growth and healing, and after encountering inspiring transformations, decided to become a practitioner. Katherine studied yoga and Ayurveda in northern India outside of Rishikesh, and completed an Ayurveda training in Oakland through Yoga Veda in 2015.
Ayurveda Consults
Pick the length session you’d like to have. In each session you can expect a whole life and body check in, share challenges and intentions, and leave with a list of the Ayurveda supports your body needs. You’ll have an action plan for foods, spices, and self-care practices that will be uniquely potent for you right now.
We recommend doing a 90-minute consult for your initial session, or booking two 45-minute sessions within a month in order to kickoff your Ayurveda action plan. Follow up sessions tend to be 60 minute sessions. And if you have a partner, bestie, or roommate and you’d like to learn how to feed each other Ayurvedically, sign up for the 120-minute session for duos.
For pre-natal and postpartum care, we suggest weekly 45-minute sessions or 60-minute monthly sessions. Pregnancy is an incredible opportunity to learn about your specific body, and Ayurveda can offer supports to bring increased comfort and ease.
