Pregnancy is a time of rapid change, both in the body as your baby grows and develops and in the mind as you prepare for birth and parenthood.

Prenatal Classes

Prenatal classes involve a gentle flow through poses aimed at increasing flexibility, strength, and stamina. Breath and movement exercises to focus the mind and stay calm in stressful situations help prepare you for whatever arises in your pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

  • Reduced stress and anxiety, including improved sleep
  • Increased strength, flexibility, and stamina
  • Reduced discomfort, including low back pain, sciatica, ligament soreness, sacroiliac joint pain, and others
  • Strengthened mind-body connection
  • A supportive community sharing experiences and information

Postnatal Classes

Post-natal classes for moms and their new babies can assist with physical recovery after birth and provide a supportive environment for parents re-engaging in self-care while simultaneously caring for their children. We focus on strengthening and restoring alignment of the body postpartum, with poses that work to relieve tension, create energy and re-strengthen the core. We will also do poses to help relax and rejuvenate your body.

Supplemental Practices

To supplement a regular prenatal yoga practice, we offer services aimed at enriching your experience through pregnancy.

Partner Prenatal Yoga is a practice for expectant mothers and a partner. Our regular workshops focus on side-by-side yoga poses and partner yoga poses. The poses help alleviate pregnancy discomforts and some poses can also be used during labor. This practice explores breath awareness, meditation, and comfort measures for labor. Your partner will also learn easy massage technique that will support relaxation during pregnancy and labor.

Prenatal bodywork can help to relieve common discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as fatigue, varicose veins, nasal congestion, shortness of breath, edema of the lower extremities, and dealing with postural changes experienced with your baby’s increasing weight. By improving blood circulation, prenatal bodywork can help to increase blood flow to the uterus and placenta. It can also ease the load on the heart and help to regulate blood pressure.

Prenatal bodywork takes place in side lying positions or reclined with support from a bolster.

Pregnancy is a time of joy for many women, but it is also a time of change as the body supports the development of a new life. It therefore presents an incredible opportunity to learn about your specific body. Ayurveda, with recommendations for foods, personal care, and daily routines, can offer supports for the physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual experiences of the mother and baby to bring ease unlike any other.
