Testimonials: Leah’s CLasses

Leah,

I just wanted to take a minute and really thank you for what I’ve gotten from your classes over the last couple of years. It’s really beyond measure. You are such a generous and patient teacher, I can’t imagine a better scenario to have been introduced to yoga. The practice that I’ve gotten from your class has had an impact on every part of my life- physical, mental, emotional, creative, etc. I would not be in the place I am, were it not for the class. And I should say- it’s a positive impact. I like the place I’m in- more focused, more relaxed, more open (or at least trying to be). Now I’m setting out out on a whole new adventure in my life, but very much intending on continuing this practice you have brought me. What I am so long-windedly trying to say is ‘Thank You’. I will carry those many Mon/Weds deep in my heat. Much Love and Thanks

Hello Leah,

For about a year, I was a semi-regular attendee of your classes at the Oakland YMCA. I just wanted to thank you for the positive impact you’ve had on my life. Your teachings set me on the path of a lifelong yoga devotee. I don’t need to tell you the benefits I’ve enjoyed from that gift. As someone who has had a limited, yet wide, variety of experiences with yoga, I want you to know that my experience with you stands out as the most engaging, educational, and enjoyable. When I think of the positive forces in my life, my yoga practice invariably comes to mind. You are most definitely to thank for that.

I would be grateful if, someday, I were given the opportunity to practice with you again. In the meantime, I hope that you are being rewarded for the good that you have brought into the lives of others.

Sincerely,
Jalal

I heard about Leah Gillman’s yoga classes from other participants at another yoga class for some years before my schedule made it possible for me to try her class. I took my first class from her in October 2006, and have been attending her class twice a week ever since.

Leah is an excellent teacher for those who want a physically active and challenging active class. Her explanations of postures and how to move into them is detailed and includes extensive information about what muscles to use while protecting oneself from overstrain or injury. I have greatly improved my practice and learnt more about the workings of my body since I started taking her classes. She has a good sense of humor, learns every attendee’s name in record time, and manages to adjust and assist individuals without neglecting the rest of the class, always a difficult balance with a sizable class. Leah is always gracious, polite and helpful to her students while providing a most enviable example of excellent practice.

I am a professional in her early sixties who has been practicing yoga for about six years. I cannot recommend Leah’s teaching highly enough and would be delighted to speak further about her talents

Leah Gillman is one of the East Bay’s top yoga instructors. I have practiced kung fu for 10 years and yoga for 5. In two intensive months taking group classes with Leah, I have made more progress with my health and healing than I have in an entire past years. She has a very advanced yoga practice and is an excellent teacher – setting a great example, providing individual guidance and always compassionate with and attentive to each of her students. Leah is well known in yoga and dance circles — and all of her students agree – she’s simply one of the best instructors around. I couldn’t more highly recommend a class worth taking.

Leah is not only charismatic but has a very articulate way of explaining the intended “goal positions” of different postures. In her classes she maintains a perfect balance of clarifying both physical and emotional aspects of yoga in a way that is fun and playful. Give her just one class and you too will be convinced!

Have been doing yoga for past 5-6 years, and have seen many instructors. She is one of the best!! Excellent rapport w/students, knows her yoga as well as our physiology. Also had a barefoot massage session with her recently. Great! Who would think barefeet could do shiatsu? Totally wonderful experience, and got all the tension out of my neck and shoulders. Highly recommend for both yoga and shiatsu.

I’ve received shiatsu massage from Leah for years now and have also taken her yoga classes. They continue to resolve and prevent my otherwise chronic back issues, improve my general wellness and help me to feel much more centered. I highly recommend Leah’s services.

I’ve been taking movement (modern, pilates, yoga) for the last 27 years and the way you teach captures all the things I love best about movement. THANK YOU! I love the way you make each concept accessible while providing clear visualizations for us to imagine. I ruptured my L5 disc three years ago and haven’t been able to dance or take yoga until now. YAY! I still have chronic pain but I’m finally starting to move again. It’s so strange to not be able to use my body like I used to, but in your class I feel like a dancer again.
