Programs Overview
Interested in learning more about yoga? Going deeper with your practice? Maybe even teaching someday? Barefoot Movement offers four programs each designed to take you further into the practice of yoga and provide you with a structure depending on your desired outcome. Find one that matches your level of interest!
One key feature of these Barefoot Movement programs is that they are limited to no more than 20 students each so we can provide individual attention, support, and opportunities for students of all levels.
Advanced Studies I (AS I) is a new program kicking off in August, 2012. It is a 4-month, 42-hour program for students who are interested in creating a well-rounded foundation to augment their on-going practice and study of yoga. This program offers an overview of Yoga History & Philosophy, Structural and Energetic Anatomy, Breath Work and Asana Alignment and Dynamics. Read more about the AS I program here.
Advanced Studies II (AS II) is a new program kicking off in September, 2012. It is a 4-month, 54-hour program for students who already have a solid foundation and are looking to deepen their yoga practice while broadening their knowledge base and experience. Topics covered can range from a practical survey of human anatomy and energetics to the nature of asana and alignment through the eyes of yoga therapeutics. Students can also gain a deeper understanding of the science of yoga and explore yoga history and philosophy and how it pertains to daily life. The AS II program runs year round and is divided into trimesters. Students can begin in January, May or September. Prerequisites for this program: successful completion of FYTT I, OR AS I program, OR, a 200-hour teacher training program from any school. Registration is always open. Flow Yoga Teacher Training, Level I (FYTT I) was established in 2008. It is a 200-hour program registered with Yoga Alliance. Over 60 students have completed FYTT I, over 30 of those graduates have taught at the Barefoot Movement studio, and 5 have become instructors of the FYTT I program. FYTT I provides a comprehensive overview of yoga with a focus on developing the skills needed to instruct an Flow Yoga class, including an understanding of how to work with students of all levels. Flow Yoga Teacher Training, Level II (FYTT II) was established in 2011. It is a 300-hour program, registered with Yoga Alliance. The Level II program is running on an ongoing basis and offers the greatest level of depth of all of the Barefoot Movement Advanced Study programs. The program consists of three sections: 1) Three AS II programs, 2) an Apprenticeship Program and 3) a Special Population Training of the student’s choice. Students choose the level of intensity for their program by overlapping their sections, completing them successively or even taking breaks between.
